Menstruation or bleeding is commonly commented as one of the factors most affecting training and/or performance, associated with a fear of leaking and this being a distraction.

Menstrual products

Choosing menstrual products specifically for exercise and sport can help overcome this.

Rather than sticking to commonly shared products, pads and tampons, there are so many more options now available. Menstrual cups are brilliant for sport, but do require being inserted and removed. These come in different sizes, can wear for 12 hours and if inserted properly you won’t even feel it. Suitable for swimming in too!

If you are not a fan of this idea, check out period pants and period leggings/shorts to increase comfort and provide extra protection. These come in different absorbencies and styles so find one that suit you.
